An Evening with Beyond The Iron Sea

On 25th September, Keane podcast Beyond The Iron Sea hosted the first public playback of Perfect Symmetry, as part of "An Evening with Beyond The Iron Sea". Here's how it all happened...

The announcement and the anticipation

keanemusic.com - Fans' podcast to host exclusive album playback evening...

We announced the evening on the Beyond The Iron Sea podcast (episode 16, 19th August 2008) and put up a teaser page on our site.

We got some plugs from some cool people, including... Planet Sound (Teletext and website), popular blog ArjanWrites and official site keanemusic.com

We drew some names out of a hat.

We kept the venue a secret until the last minute, before giving people a handy video to show them that it would be at 229 Great Portland Street.

The stage

On the night

A big mix of people turned up - male, female, labrador, young, not as young; with natives from Scotland, Belgium, Germany, Canada, USA, and Israel all representing.

We played some of our favourite songs, and gave out programmes for people to read. Download the programme (PDF).

We sold some t-shirts.

We played some of the influences Keane have cited during the making of the album, and played some of the YouTube clips on our screen.

We played the 'making of' documentary from the bonus DVD.

We got up on stage and played the album. Twice.

People filled in questionnaires about the album. Download the questionnaire (PDF).

We all had a fun time!

Chris and Andrew would like to extend huge thanks to... Jen, Mart, Hannah, Vanky; Mandy, Kerry; Stuart, Ed; Jason, Scoot, Jon, Adam and the band.
